Counselling Services for Schools
Supporting Young People's Emotional Wellbeing, One Conversation at a Time.
At Smiler's Counselling Lincolnshire, I am passionate about supporting children and young people with their mental health and emotional wellbeing.
I understand that school life can bring many challenges, and for some pupils, having someone independent to talk to can make a real difference.
I offer professional, person-centred counselling services to schools across Lincolnshire, providing pupils with a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space to explore their thoughts, feelings and experiences.
My aim is to help young people feel heard, understood and supported, allowing them to develop greater self-awareness, confidence and emotional resilience.
How Can School Counselling Help?
Children and young people can experience a wide range of emotional difficulties that may affect their wellbeing, relationships and engagement with education.
Counselling can provide support with:
Anxiety, stress and overwhelming emotions
Low mood and depression
Bereavement, grief and loss
Friendship and relationship difficulties
Bullying and peer pressure
Low self-esteem and confidence
Family difficulties and changes at home
Emotional regulation
Identity and self-discovery
School transitions and exam-related worries
Difficult or traumatic experiences
Every young person is different, and counselling sessions are tailored to their individual needs.
My Person-Centred Approach
I believe every young person deserves to feel listened to, valued and accepted for who they are.
My counselling approach is person-centred, meaning the young person is at the heart of the therapeutic process.
Rather than telling pupils what they should do, I provide a supportive environment where they can explore their feelings, develop their own understanding and discover ways forward that feel right for them.
I work with empathy, genuineness and unconditional positive regard, allowing young people to feel respected and supported without judgement.
How School Counselling Works
I work alongside schools to provide counselling support within the school environment.
Services can include:
Individual, face-to-face counselling sessions
Regular weekly counselling appointments
Short-term or longer-term therapeutic support, depending on individual needs and school arrangements
Support for pupils experiencing emotional or personal difficulties
Liaison with designated school staff where appropriate, while respecting therapeutic confidentiality
Counselling sessions are arranged in partnership with the school, with suitable consent and safeguarding procedures in place.
Qualifications and Professional Practice
I am a qualified counsellor with additional specialist training in counselling children and young people.
My training and professional development include:
Level 5 Diploma in Counselling
Level 5 Diploma in Counselling Children and Young People
Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST)
Mental Health First Aid training
Domestic Abuse Champion training
Regular clinical supervision
I also hold professional indemnity insurance and work in accordance with safeguarding and confidentiality requirements.
Safeguarding and Confidentiality
The safety and wellbeing of every young person are a priority.
I work alongside school safeguarding procedures and communicate with the school's Designated Safeguarding Lead where concerns about a pupil's safety or welfare arise.
Counselling provides a private space for pupils to talk, while recognising that confidentiality has limits where safeguarding or legal obligations apply.
Appropriate consent, information sharing and referral arrangements are agreed with each school before counselling begins.
Counselling Services Tailored to Your School
I understand that every school has different needs, and I welcome discussions about how counselling support could fit within your existing pastoral and wellbeing provision.
Whether your school is looking for regular counselling sessions or additional emotional wellbeing support for pupils, I would be happy to discuss your requirements.
